Elon Musk is licensed for one million devices that will help you get internet from space
Elon Musk has an ambitious plan, by which he wants to give you internet from space, and is now taking an important step in this direction.
SpaceX, its company in charge of this project, has received permission from the Federal Communications Commission to install one million terminals that will communicate with the constellation of Starlink satellites through which people will be able to receive Internet access.
In essence, the terminals are devices that will help you connect to the services offered by the Starlink satellite network. Elon Musk described them simply, in a post on Twitter and referred to them as “UFOs on the stick”: the CEO says the company will show the terminals.
The good news is that they will not need specialists to be installed. According to the CEO of the company, the process is quite simple and there are only two instructions: 1. Connect the device to the outlet, 2. Point it towards the sky.
The one million devices will be installed in the United States. Only they can cover only a small part of the territory of the country. However, SpaceX does not aim to make the Internet available to all US residents.
In fact, Elon Musk mentioned in a conference that the plan is for this constellation of satellites to serve 3% or 4% of customers whom regular operators cannot reach, or those who simply do not have internet access at present. .
Elon Musk already has permission from the Federal Communications Commission to send approximately 12,000 satellites into space, which will provide the Internet on Earth. However, SpaceX has requested radio frequencies to launch another 30,000 such satellites.
Thus, their total number would reach 42,000. SpaceX has already set the record for most satellites operated by a single company. Currently, it has reached 362 and others will follow.
