New WhatsApp functionality

For those used to Teams or Zoom, here’s a feature that WhatsApp was missing: invitations to audio or video conferences.

That’s because I know companies that use business accounts of the app, but organize group meetings on other platforms, like the ones mentioned above.

With the implementation of the new function, in the Calls section there will be the option to create a link (Call Links) for audio and video calls, which users can send to interlocutors.

The parent company, Meta, also stated that it is also testing the implementation of secure video calls in which up to 32 people can participate. Currently, only eight people can participate in the same video conference on WhatsApp.

Basically, if it succeeds in this, WhatsApp can enter the business market, a segment unexplored by them and which has the advantage of coming with an application that (still) everyone has installed.
