Qualcomm has launched the Snapdragon G series for portable gaming consoles
Qualcomm has recently released a new range of SoCs for gaming consoles. In three variants, G1, G2 and G3, they will equip different gaming consoles depending on the desired power.
Snapdragon G1 Gen1 is for gaming consoles with passive cooling, so it is a thin SoC with eight Kryo cores and Adreno A11 GPU, offering up to 60FPS in 720P resolution. It has Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0.
Snapdragon G2 Gen1 is a more powerful GPU, Adreno 21, Wi-Fi 6 and 6E, 5G connectivity and promises up to 144FPS at FHD+ resolution. This will probably be the most used.
Next comes the G3 Gen2, which already equips the Razer Edge 5G and is the top of the range. Also with eight Kryo cores, it is 30% faster than its predecessor. It has an Adreno A32 GPU, supports Ray Tracing, Wi-Fi 7, 5G and can support a PCIe Gen SSD and has stereo haptic support. It also supports FHD+ resolution with up to 144FPS.
