Windows Defender is one of the most secure anti-malware solutions
AV-TEST, one of the leading research organizations in the field of information security, has published a new evaluation report on anti-malware solutions.
In total, 20 anti-malware solutions were analyzed, and the scores were given according to the detection rate, performance and ease of use. Surprisingly, Microsoft Defender, the security application built into Windows 10 and Windows 11, scored very high, providing a degree of protection similar to the best commercial anti-malware solutions.

Microsoft Defender scored 18 points, being even better than the alternatives from Avast, AVG and Bitdefender.
I haven’t had an antivirus in over 10 years, and I’ve only relied on Windows. Every time I installed Bitdefender, ESET or Avira the system was difficult and I often ran into false positives.

I really don’t see the point in Windows Defender doing at least as well with much lower resource consumption. In addition, home users have no reason to opt for total security solutions, with advanced firewall and browser filter. Most of the time, it’s just money thrown out the window.
