China has surpassed the US in the number of patents in 2019

According to WIPO (China Intellectual Property Organization), China has surpassed the US number of patents in 2019. The US has not been surpassed since 1978!

Among the companies that have registered the most international patents we can list: Huawei (4411 patents), Mitsubishi, Samsung, Qualcomm and Oppo.

The most patented companies in China are Huawei and Oppo, which shows us that communication technology is important to them.

And not only did the two companies manage to register many patents but also the educational institutions. In the top 5 there are 3 universities in China: Tshinghua, Shenzen and the University of Technology of South China.
