MSI Modern – you may need such a laptop yourself
I got in touch with an MSI laptop in 2013 when I was employed at a GSM store. It was my work laptop with an Alienware and I was impressed. I didn’t know that MSI also produces laptops, since I hadn’t seen one before. I found out that they have a rich history behind them and even though I didn’t know much at the time, I researched.
I haven’t seen MSI laptops since then. I think that for 1 year or 2 years I started testing MSIs by the simple fact that they made their presence felt in Romania. I think they just didn’t exist in our country.
In these two years I have tested many MSI models, very interesting and unexpectedly good. From my perspective, they are very good and underestimated laptops compared to other more well-known models on our market.
The Modern series I’m talking about today is intended for people looking for performance and elegance. Both at the same time. It is difficult to find high-performance laptops that have a slim design, are elegant and light.
You will find in the Modern series interesting colors such as Carbon Gray, Beige Mousse or Bluestone. Being very thin and very light, they are available mainly with Intel Iris video cards, but optionally they can also be chosen with dedicated Nvidia cards such as the MX450.
The Modern series offers a generous computing power in a case as light and elegant as possible. And it is addressed to people who travel a lot, commute between work and home with their laptop in the back or simply want a special laptop. Although I think it’s better suited to the first two categories.
As an idea, a Modern series laptop weighs 1.3kg and measures between 16.9mm and 18.1mm.
In Romania there are several models available in this series and depending on the level of equipment, the price also differs.
At this price you get a Carbon Gray laptop with Intel Core i5-1155G7 processor up to 4.5GHz, a 14 inch Full HD screen with very thin edges, a 512GB SSD and 16GB RAM. The video card is an Intel Iris Xe.
It should also be mentioned that the screen has a matte anti-glare protection, the battery is 39WHr, the case is made of aluminum and the RAM is in dual channel 8 + 8GB, so it has two slots. The SSD is M.2, the speakers are Nahimic and it has Wi-Fi AX and Bluetooth 5.1.
And if you weigh what you receive for the same money from the competition, you will notice that MSI really has a good offer. Check too.
On the connectivity side you will find normal USBs as well as Type C USBs, microSD and HDMI readers. Personally, I would go for the AMD version simply because their processors seem more stable, more powerful and cooler than those from Intel.
