Motorola One Zoom Review: midrange with many pluses
It is a well-constructed phone, made of quality materials, with an excellent camera for the price range it fits into.
A little big and a little hard, in my humble opinion, but, it wasn’t, it had to be seen somewhere and it’s not a flagship! But, as for the writer: let’s go to the story!
I will not bore you too much in this chapter, because there is not much to tell here.
We have a box with generic design, in which we find the wall charger, USB-C power cord, SIM-tray key, a silicone case, two brochures, a butterfly on the recommendations of a screen protector and … type headphones in-ear. Related to these, I can say that I was pleasantly impressed.
The design is generic, nothing out of the ordinary here. Unfortunately, with the economic crisis I am seeing, we will see fewer innovations here.
No big baths here, because Motorola One Zoom doesn’t want a flagship to come with a wow effect!
The phone is relatively heavy and a bit thick (158 x 75 x 8.8 mm and 190 g), and the case makes it even more baban! Probably the big battery is the reason for this situation.
However, with the aluminum frame and the glass back (yes, it’s not metal!), It gives you the impression of elegance and good taste.
The display is a punch-hole, but with too generous edges at the top and bottom.
On the back we have the quadruple camera, the flash LED and the Motorola logo. I really like that it is illuminated when you put the phone on charge or when you have notifications.
At the top, on the frame, we have the tray for SIM and microSD card, antenna and speaker. On the opposite side we have the two plugs – the USB-C for charging and the one for jack.
The volume and start / stop buttons are located on the right side, which made me a little uncomfortable to use. But I think it’s commonplace.
Although the processor is a mid-range and old-generation one, the phone moves flawlessly, without ever giving me any signs of fatigue! As for the chipset, it also comes with Redmi Note 7 PRO or Motorola Mot Z4.
Facial unlocking reacted almost instantly and smoothly, while the fingerprint tended to not work.
I researched the situation, but found nothing similar in other reviews.
Indeed, they praised that sensor – which seems to be from Samsung, with everything on display. Now, either I got a template with problems, or I failed to register the fingerprints correctly.
I would exclude the second option, because I redo this process three times.
A bug found by me, but others have noticed, is related to the Dark Mode option: although you enable it, the settings menu remains white.
Near the zoom camera module, we have a standard, 48 MP wide camera and a 16 MP ultra-wide camera.
The fourth camera is a depth sensor, used only for photos in bokeh mode.
Both the main sensor and the zoom sensor benefit from optical stabilization, something we find in models from the higher price ranges.
Also, with the help of a Sony sensor and Quad Pixel technology, the images delivered by the main 48 MP camera are at the flagship level.
