How to use Zoom while working from home and what effective options you have available
Zoom has become one of the most useful applications for people working from home during this period, in order to be able to communicate effectively with colleagues in the office.
While you are at home, you will most likely need a way to communicate effectively with other people in isolation at home, whether it’s work colleagues or you want to get in touch with friends or family. During this period, Zoom became one of the most popular tools of this kind.
You can use the free version, or the one for which you need a subscription, for which you will pay $ 15 each month. If you do not want to give money, you can do pretty well with the free version.
How to use Zoom and how to start a session
First of all, you need to install your application and set up an account. Exit versions for any device: you can use it on your PC, Android or iOS.
The program is quite easy to use and is quite similar to the video conferencing applications that you have used before. To initiate a call, follow these steps:
– Press the New Meeting orange button;
– Allows the app to access your camera;
– Run the microphone tests that will appear to you;
– Click the Join with computer audio button;
– Make sure your microphone is not turned off from the lower left corner of the Zoom window;
– To enable others to see you, click on Start video;
– If you want to invite others to the call, press the Invite button at the bottom, copy the generated URL and send it to the person who will join the meeting.
How you share the screen with the call participants
Zoom has some other features that you can take advantage of.
First of all, one of the most useful is the one where you can share the screen on your device, so that other participants have access to what you see on your screen. You can do this by following the steps below:
1.If you haven’t started the call yet, you can start sharing the screen from the Home screen. From the desktop, the option is in the Home tab, and on the phone or tablet in the Meet & Chat tab;
2.A pop-up will appear, where you need to enter the session ID or ID, then tap Share Screen on your desktop or OK on your phone;
3. Enter the session password and press Join or OK;
4. From here, things are different, depending on the device you use Zoom in:
– On the desktop, you will have a number of options: you can display the screen you are working on, a whiteboard, or the screen of your iPhone.
-Click Share then:
– On mobile, after entering the session ID and password, you will see the message Not Sharing Screen Yet. Once the page is loaded, you will get the option to start sharing the screen, using the Start Broadcast option. (You can choose to keep the microphone off or on). After that, a red bar will be displayed above your screen and everything you do on the phone will be visible to all participants.
How do you share the screen if you are already on a call
– From the call screen, press the Share Screen button at the bottom of the screen, in the center, or use the Alt + Shift + PC or Shift + Cmd + S shortcuts on your Mac;
– And an options screen will be displayed to share either the computer screen, a whiteboard, or the phone screen.
– To share another screen, tap New Share: the previous menu will open again, from which you can choose another option.
