A 77-year-old man was caught by police while playing Pokemon Go despite quarantine

Spain is the second worst affected country by the COVID-19 pandemic, recently surpassing China in the number of deaths and being surpassed only by Italy.

However, some Spanish citizens, even those with a very high risk factor, refuse to listen to the advice and even the orders of the authorities to stay at home.

Last day, a 77-year-old man from Madrid was apprehended by police on the street during the quarantine during a “pokemon hunt”, according to the official report.

The man was intercepted by Madrid police on Sunday, walking on the street, despite the quarantine declared by the Spanish authorities on March 14, which obliges all citizens to stay in the house for 14 days.

The only reasons why the domicile can be abandoned are the urgently needed emergencies and purchases.

It seems that walking on the street to catch pokemon in the Pokemon Go mobile game is not considered an emergency and no need.

On the official account of the Municipal Police of Madrid was published a photo with the report of the agents in which is clearly seen the statement of the 77-year-old man. Its identity has been covered, but the figure confirming its age can be observed.

It is unclear whether or not the man received a fine for this ride, but fines in Spain start from 100 euros for violating the rules established by the authorities.

This is not the first case of “Pokemon hunter” in full COVID-19 pandemic that violates the law. Last week, a 31-year-old man from Italy was caught by police while catching pokemon on the street with his daughter.

Niantic, the developer of the Pokemon Go game, encourages players to stay indoors and has added new gameplay capabilities and in-game bonuses to catch pokemon at home.
