Abbott Laboratories has created a new ultra-fast Covid-19 test

After Robert Bosch praised the new Covid-19 test with results in less than 2.5 hours, the American company for research, development and production of medical equipment Abbott Laboratories could be a true “game changer” for this pandemic and comes with very good news.

Thus, the Covid-19 test provided by Abbott Laboratories only takes 5 minutes to find out if a person is positive and a data processing laboratory is not required.

Everything is done by the proprietary ID Now technology, which is portable and virtually the test can be performed in any location where the device is available.

Doctors only need to collect the sample either from the patient’s nose or throat, and the sample should be placed in the device. It is worth mentioning that the test requires 5 minutes if the patient is found positive, a waiting time of up to 13 minutes for a negative one.

The test was approved under US emergency by the Food and Drug Administration, and today Abbott will begin distributing 50,000 tests per day.
