DJI Mavic Air 2 comes with 48MP camera and 8K filming

DJI has launched Mavic Air 2, a new drone that comes to replace the model launched in 2018. The new drone comes with 8K footage, being a major upgrade.

It will have a new sensor from Sony, IMX586 model of 1/2 ″, 48MP and pixel binning technology that combines pixels and even offers photos at 12MP in low light conditions.

It also introduces a new feature called Smart Photo, which uses scene analysis and deep learning to provide the best photography and 3 new modes: HDR, Hyperlight and Scene Recognition.

Hyperlight is a Night Mode under another name, and Scene Recognition does exactly what the name says. Detects certain frames and scenes such as sunset, sunrise, grass, snow, etc. and adjusts certain settings.

Filming is now done at 4K AND 60FPS resolution with 120Mbps, and can also shoot Full HD with 120FPS or 240FPS with 4x or 8x slow motion. But the novelty is 8K filming.

The engines have been improved as well as the autonomy. Mavic Air 2 can stay in the air for 34 minutes. OcuSync 2.0 transmission technology can deliver HD quality from a maximum distance of 10km.

It also brings AirSense technology, which warns the user if there is a plane or a helicopter nearby.

The drone detects if there is a plane or a helicopter around it and can show their position on the screen. If they are too close then you will receive an alarm signal.

The price starts at $ 800 for the basic package or $ 988 in the package with several accessories.
