Google Pay is official in Romania

After a lot of rumors and probes, Google Pay can finally be used officially in Romania. Many banks have already announced this.

But using the service will be a little different: you won’t find (at least not yet) the Google Pay app in the Google Play Store, but you’ll be able to add it to your phone as soon as you insert a card from a partner bank.

It seems that, so far, the following banks have implemented Google Pay in Romania for their cards:

• Curves
• Transferwise
• ING Bank
• UniCredit Bank
• Banca Transilvania
• Alpha Bank
• CEC Bank
• Viva Wallet
• Orange Money

UPDATE: you can also choose your preferred card if you don’t have Google Pay installed, like this: Settings -> Google -> Account Services -> Google Pay
