Intel has discovered 16 new UEFI vulnerabilities

Intel has announced the discovery of 16 new UEFI and BIOS vulnerabilities. They allow attackers unauthorized access to system resources and data and can facilitate denial of service attacks.

Even worse, vulnerabilities can bypass the security mechanisms in operating systems, as well as antimalware solutions. Systems with 6th to 11th generation Intel Core processors, Xeon W, E, D and Scalable series, Core-X and Atom C3000 series are affected.

The good news is that all of these exploits require physical access to systems, and cannot be exploited remotely. Intel is already working with computer and motherboard manufacturers to provide firmware updates for the affected systems, but has not announced when patches will be available.
