Realme 4K TV Stick Review: GoogleTV for Slower Smart TVs

A Realme TV stick and a non-smart TV with HDMI port enter a bar.

And good long-term collaborators come out of the bar. Realme is the fastest growing brand of mobile phones and multimedia equipment in recent times. We are already familiar with their phones and you can find the reviews here.

Now I want to tell you about a media player for older TVs. Many of us still have good TVs, maybe in the country or even at home, but they are not smart, and in the current context where Netflix, HBO or Amazon content is a small inconvenience in entertainment, you can’t turn on the TV and go live. the road to your favorite movie / series. Although I think that in addition to non-smart TVs, some older smart models can also be added to this category due to the cumbersome interface or slow system.

If you have a TV with HDMI port and USB 2.0, with the help of Realme 4K you can turn it into a smart one that is easy to use and with low costs.

Realme 4K uses the GoogleTV operating system, which is nothing more than refined AndroidTV. I say this after using AndroidTV version 9, and GoogleTV present here in version 11 is more intuitive and friendly. The jump is not spectacular, but it is in the right direction.

Its setup is very simple, and the use in turn becomes natural after a short use – even my father who is not a fan of technology used it alone. You need a Gmail account to sign in, a Wi-Fi connection, and you’re ready to explore content on your favorite platforms.

Netflix, HBO GO, YouTube or Amazon Prime come pre-installed on it, and through the Play Store you can install other applications such as Plex, Radio or even games. Out of curiosity I installed Beach Buggy Racing to see how it is and it works without problems.

The control is performed via the bluetooth remote control that comes with the stick. It has an ergonomic design with Netflix, Youtube or Amazon quick release buttons.

Google Assistant is also on hand in case you want verbal control, and content can be transmitted up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. It is compatible with HDR10 + and HDMI 2.1. The cast screen feature is also available, but only for Android devices. For iOS, you’ll need an app like Chromecast Streamer.

In terms of technical specifications, Realme 4K uses a quad-core AMlogic 4-core ARM Cortex-A35 processor at 1.8 GHz, along with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory. Of the 8GB, about 4GB are available to the user.

The TV stick from Realme is an optimal solution if you do not want to give up the old TV that is not “smart” enough. It comes with a very easy to use interface, rich in streaming platforms and works very well.
