Data from over 1.2 million customers was stolen from GoDaddy’s servers
Data from over 1.2 million customers has been stolen from GoDaddy’s servers by an unknown entity. The suspicious activity took place on September 6 and targeted customers hosting the WordPress hosting service.
The company’s representatives claim that the access was obtained with the help of a compromised password, but the discovery was made only a few days ago. Surprisingly, hackers not only obtained personal data of customers, but also private keys for SSL certificates and passwords for databases, FTP access and WordPress sites.
The company recommends that customers reset their access data for all services. GoDaddy customers should also pay close attention to phishing attempts. Your service provider does not normally ask for your personal data, password confirmation or account reactivation via email.
