Samsung could choose a class action lawsuit because of the artificial limitation of performance on the Galaxy S22
Out of the desire to get the best results in synthetic tests, Samsung played dirty and favored performance in benchmarks, while limiting the resources allocated to other applications.
Everything was fixed through the “Game Optimizing Service” application, and Geekbench responded by removing the last 4 Samsung flagships from the internal rankings.
Apparently, Samsung has limited performance in over 10,000 applications, probably to increase battery life and prevent device overheating, but has not done the same with benchmark applications.
In addition to being removed from the synthetic test rankings, Samsung could be faced with other, more serious issues.
The company is already being investigated by South Korean consumer protection authorities, and another piece of news released two days ago suggests that a class action could be initiated.
Samsung responded to the allegations and said that these limitations were introduced in order to ensure a more balanced experience and to prevent the accelerated discharge of the battery.
The company also announced that it will provide a software update that will allow the deactivation of the GOS application and, implicitly, the artificial limitation of performance.
