The Intel Arc A380 entry-level GPU disappoints in benchmarks

Although not yet officially released, the entry-level Intel Arc A380 GPU has already reached the hands of reviewers, and the first results are disappointing. In terms of specifications, the Arc A380 is very good for its price range, with 128 compute units, 1024 shaders, 6 GB VRAM and 16 Xe matrix (XMS) units for XeSS upscaling technology.

In OpenCL tests, however, the Intel GPU is inferior to the entry-level models of competitors, in most scenarios being below AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. The only advantages for Intel are the 75 W power consumption and the price of only about $ 200.

However, the performance in computing may not be representative for gaming, but to be honest, I do not expect to see a much better price / performance ratio than on AMD or NVIDIA.

The first Intel Arc GPUs will debut in the 2nd quarter, and the biggest interest is for the middle and top models, it is rumored that they will compete with RTX 3060 and RTX 3070.
