Jurassic Park: The Game – Review
I was small enough in 1993 to launch the film Spielberg to be very impressed with the idea that the blood of a prehistoric mosquito preserved in amber and some frog DNA can bring dinosaurs to life.
All name ending in “zaur” back in the game from Telltale – Jurassic Park: The Game – in what is like an imitation of gameplay in Heavy Rain, but the PC is only a push of a button to the heap, preferably at the ideal time.
In terms of narrative, things are going well because it starts to spray fake shaving cream containing dinosaur embryos and build the next film, things were fairly balanced between action sequences and the human drama of at least desired.
Unfortunately, the rest is based on Quick Time Events, ie sequences in which you must press the correct key at the right time, otherwise you die.
Or lose the gold medal and just tripping over a tree root. No problem, the following sequence die without any apparent reason, especially if you think you hit right, while you play a few seconds later contradict.
Of the four episodes (not exceeding 5 hours of gameplay unless you push to the stubbornness of all sequences butonare gold), the first and most interesting is that it takes about the film and introduces characters: Nima, thief with a vengeance personal against the company that put dinosaurs on the island Nublar, Gerry Harding and his rebellious teenage daughter and inevitably, the doctor in genetics and animal rights activist Laura Sorkin and sent mercenaries to save the ones mentioned.
As everything takes place on an island, there are not many places where characters can hide from carnivorous reptiles and very often you end up with a sequence of tracks where Tyranosaurus Rex (nicknamed T-Rex), always starved of hunger.
Unfortunately, how annoying are Quick Time Event’s, on so little and weak are the puzzles. Frankly, I expected more from Telltale, a studio with a solid reputation in the adventure genre, but here was sacrificed quality in favor of platforms, the best system on your iPhone iOS, where players did nothing to complain that their IQ drops.
On the PC, however, everything is mural mouth: look around, see question marks turn into magnifying glass and click on them, usually get only information adjacent, there is no inventory, no you did not collect objects or moments the neuron to use to escape from a trap. You just need perfect reflexes and buttons on the keyboard or gamepad resistant.
Dialogues are also distraught because they can be played in any order, which breaks the coherence of the story.
The characters have depth, you can not feel sorry if die or suffer, however, can continue indefinitely fatal scene because after several attempts, the combination of buttons to be pressed is simplified.
It is true that pressed buttons sequences are intense and do not feel well at all beheaded by a dinosaur, even if only virtual level, the sting of frustration just makes you continue, the only lizard that is not stronger than you.
The visual does not require too much from the PC, and if people are not very well, but the size and ferocity dinosaurs comparable with the effects of film animation. Sounds also contribute a lot, T-Rex’s roar sending my appeal without cat under the bed.
Music is taken in part from the movie, so this chapter is not much to complain about. Unfortunately, the rest of the game fails to provide immersion and participation necessary for a subject as active as bringing dinosaurs to life and especially escape their control. It’s more a film where your job is just to press a button at the right time.
