AMD processors are still having problems with Windows 11. The fTPM module is crashing
Windows 11 has the mandatory presence of a TPM module, but most systems do not have a dedicated TPM, but are based on one emulated at the processor level.
On Intel this solution seems to work very well, but on AMD users complain about performance degradation and crashes. AMD claims that the issue will be fixed with BIOS updates in May, but it is not yet known whether motherboard manufacturers will comply and provide timely updates.
It would not be out of the question for these updates to come first on recent motherboards, and to become available for older models in the coming months.
At this point, the issue will be resolved either by installing a dedicated TPM module or by installing Windows 11 with compatibility filters disabled.
However, the latter solution is not recommended for security reasons. Best of all, if you have an AMD processor and haven’t upgraded to Windows 11 yet, stick to Windows 10. It’s much more stable, and there aren’t many major differences in functionality and performance.
