Sony will buy Bungie, the developer of Halo and Destiny games
Sony has announced the takeover of Bungie, the studio behind the Halo and Destiny series. The transaction is estimated at $ 3.6 billion, but the studio will not be managed directly by Sony Interactive Entertainment, but will operate as a subsidiary of the company.
At the same time, Bungie announced that future games will not only come on PlayStation, but will continue to be available on all platforms. The transaction is a bizarre one considering that until recently Bungie had an exclusive partnership with Microsoft, the Halo franchise being available only on Xbox and PC.
Bungie representatives said that Sony will not have any influence on the creative process and that future titles will keep the same quality standards.
It seems that the main rivals in the gaming industry, Sony and Microsoft, are now in a constant struggle to increase market share. Two weeks ago, Microsoft announced the takeover of Activision Blizzard for $ 68.7 billion.
