MediaTek cheats in benchmarks
At least I think a phone or tablet is NOT chosen by the benchmark score.
That’s why I don’t even test phones with such synthetic tests, which are irrelevant from my point of view. As a proof, MediaTek can cheat on benchmarks.
You’ve certainly heard this story before. When a device detects that it is opening a benchmark application, the processor in performance mode is forced and results in a higher score than normal.
Anandtech smelled like something was wrong and conducted an investigation into MediaTek processors.
They were right. At the peak, MediaTek acknowledged the problem but without any guilt.
On the contrary, they seem to be proud of what they have achieved by saying that other producers are using such methods.
