Philips sold the home appliances division – they only have medical equipment
Philips, the Dutch brand with a rich history, was left with only medical equipment. They also sold the home appliances division for 3.7 billion euros to the Chinese group Hillhouse Capital.
In the past, they also sold the consumer appliances division, such as televisions, and the lighting fixtures were also sold in 2015. Only medical products remain from Philips.
So, when you buy a coffee espresso machine, an iron or a food processor, even if the Philips logo is present, that product is NO longer Philips.
Of the 3.7 billion euros, 700 million is licensed for the Philips brand. 15 years from now we will see products with the Philips logo, but they have nothing to do with what Philips means.
